Discharge from REA usually takes place on the 3rd or 4th day after childbirth for natural childbirth or on the 4th day if the patient has had a caesarean section, with the attending physician’s consent.

Discharge procedure

1. Your attending obstetrician will approve the discharge and your pediatrician will inform you on the health of your baby.

2. Then, in consultation with the Head Nurse or Attending Midwife you can address the Patient Accounting Office on the 2nd floor of the Clinic to settle your bill and receive your discharge paper.

3. After you have settled your bill, the Head Nurse or Attending Midwife will provide instructions on how to take care of your baby, give you the baby’s health booklet and then you are ready to take your baby home. You finally sign the Newborn Baby’s History, where a copy of your identification card or passport is attached and where the newborn’s bracelet is kept (the second bracelet remains on the baby’s hand and is removed by you).
